IRZ Troubleshooting
Common Problems Opening IRZ Files
Missing iROS
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open IRZ Files" when trying to open your IRZ. If so, it typically means that you don't have iROS installed for %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your IRZ file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: Another IRZ-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
iROS is Out-of-Date
Sometimes your installed version of iROS won't support your iROS Application Packaging Unit file. If you do not have the proper version iROS (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This issue mainly occurs when your iROS Application Packaging Unit file was created by a newer version of iROS than you have on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of IRZ file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Regardless, most of the IRZ file opening problems relate to not having the right version of iROS installed.
Other IRZ File Opening Causes
You can still experience errors opening IRZ files even with the latest version of iROS installed on your PC. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening IRZ files. These issues include:
- IRZ file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Accidental deletion of the description of the IRZ file in the Windows registry
- Invalid installation of a IRZ-associated program (eg. iROS)
- Your IRZ file is corrupted (issues with your iROS Application Packaging Unit file itself)
- Malware-tainted IRZ file can't be opened
- Hardware associated with IRZ has outdated drivers
- Windows cannot load your iROS Application Packaging Unit file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
Quiz: Which file extension is not a type of document?
That's Correct!
ODS files are an OpenDocument Spreadsheet based on XML formatting. Although they are related to productivity, these are spreadsheets, not documents. :)
