Troubleshoot JAS Files
Typical JAS Opening Challenges
Unity Technologies Unity is Not Installed
When you double-click your JAS file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Unity Technologies Unity installed for %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: When another JAS application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Wrong Version of Unity Technologies Unity is Installed
Sometimes your installed version of Unity Technologies Unity won't support your Cheetah3D Model File file. If you've got the wrong version of Unity Technologies Unity installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Your Cheetah3D Model File file was probably created by a newer release of Unity Technologies Unity than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of JAS file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Summary: Not having the right Unity Technologies Unity version on your computer can cause problems opening JAS files.
Other JAS File Opening Causes
Although you might already have Unity Technologies Unity or another JAS-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Cheetah3D Model File files. If you are continuing to have errors with loading JAS files, other external issues might be to blame. Problems unrelated to software:
- File references in the Windows Registry for JAS are wrong
- Accidental deletion of the description of the JAS file in the Windows registry
- Partial installation of Unity Technologies Unity that did not fully complete
- File corruption affecting your JAS file
- JAS file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Device drivers for JAS-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Cheetah3D Model File format
