Troubleshooting Problems Opening JCC Files
Issues Opening JCC Files
Missing Code Crusader
Double-clicking your JCC file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open JCC File". If so, it typically means that you don't have Code Crusader installed for %%os%%. The typical path of opening your JCC with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your JCC, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Incorrect Code Crusader Version
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Code Crusader Project Data file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Visit the Open Source website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Code Crusader. This problem is predominately due to having a Code Crusader Project Data file version that was created by a newer version of Code Crusader than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your JCC, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening JCC files are due to having the incorrect version of Code Crusader installed on your computer.
Other JCC File Issues
Errors opening Code Crusader Project Data files can still occur even with the latest Code Crusader software installed on your computer. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening JCCs. Problems unrelated to software:
- JCC file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Deletion of the JCC file description from the Registry by mistake
- Corrupt install of Code Crusader or other JCC-related program
- Your JCC can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- The JCC is infected with a virus
- Hardware associated with JCC has outdated drivers
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Code Crusader Project Data file
