Troubleshooting Problems Opening JOBS Files
Troubles Opening JOBS Files
VirtualDub Not Present
If you attempt to load your JOBS file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open JOBS Files". Usually, this is because you do not have VirtualDub for %%os%% installed. The typical path of opening your JOBS with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When another JOBS application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Obsolete Version of VirtualDub
Your VirtualDub Job File file is incompatible with VirtualDub because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of VirtualDub if you don't have the right version. This problem is predominately due to having a VirtualDub Job File file version that was created by a newer version of VirtualDub than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of JOBS file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Primarily, problems experienced when opening JOBS files are due to having the incorrect version of VirtualDub installed on your computer.
Additional JOBS Opening Issues
Even with the correct version of VirtualDub installed, you can still experience difficulties opening JOBSs. If you are still having problems opening JOBS files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. These issues include:
- Windows Registry JOBS file paths that are incorrect
- Unintentional removal of the description of the JOBS file inside the Windows Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the JOBS format
- Your JOBS can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Past or present virus infection has affected your JOBS
- Device drivers for JOBS-related hardware are out-of-date
- Windows cannot load your VirtualDub Job File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
