JST File Summary

There are three file types associated with the JST File Extension, with the most widely-observed being the Jnes Save State format. According to our database, four distinct software programs (conventionally, Jnes developed by Jabosoft) will enable you to view these files. JST files are categorized ordinarily as Game Files. Other file types can be Web Files or Database Files.

Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems can be used to view JST files. Both desktop and mobile devices enable you to view and (sometimes) edit these files, depending on the software used. These files have a Popularity Rating of "Low", meaning they are not very commonly observed on your average hard disk.

Although there is a lot more to know about JST files, those are the most important details of these types of files. If you are having trouble opening these files, or would like more detailed information, please see our comprehensive information below.

Sources of JST Problems

Common JST Opening Problems

Jnes Not Present

Double-clicking your JST file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open JST File". If so, it typically means that you don't have Jnes installed for %%os%%. The typical path of opening your JST with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.

Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your JST, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").

Incorrect Jnes Version

It is possible that your version of Jnes isn't able to open your Jnes Save State file due to incompatibility. Visit the Jabosoft website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Jnes. The primary cause of this problem is that your Jnes Save State file was created by a different (newer) version of Jnes than what's installed.

Tip: If you right-click on your JST file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.

Summary: Not having the right Jnes version on your computer can cause problems opening JST files.

Other Causes of JST File Opening Problems

Even with the correct version of Jnes installed, you can still experience difficulties opening JSTs. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening JSTs. Problems unrelated to software:

  • Windows Registry JST file paths that are incorrect
  • The JST file description within the Windows Registry was removed
  • Jnes or another JST application experienced a flawed installation
  • The JST itself is corrupted
  • Your JST has adversely impacted by malware
  • JST-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
  • Windows has inadequate resources to open your Jnes Save State file
