Troubleshoot KOC Files
Common KOC Opening Problems
Koha Isn't There
When trying to open your KOC file, you get the error "Can't Open KOC File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Koha isn't installed on your PC. Your operating system cannot associate your KOC with Koha, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When another KOC application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Outdated Koha
In other instances, your Koha Offline Circulation Data file version may not be supported by your version of Koha. Installing the latest version of Koha from Open Source is recommended. The primary cause of this problem is that your Koha Offline Circulation Data file was created by a different (newer) version of Koha than what's installed.
Tip: Right-clicking on your KOC, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Conclusion: The majority of KOC file opening issues are due to not having the correct Koha version installed.
Other KOC File Issues
You can still experience errors opening KOC files even with the latest version of Koha installed on your PC. Other KOC opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Other contributing causes:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for KOC
- Deletion of the KOC file description from the Registry by mistake
- Partial installation of Koha that did not fully complete
- The KOC itself is corrupted
- KOC file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware associated with KOC has outdated drivers
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Koha Offline Circulation Data file
