Understanding LVT Issues
Common Problems Opening LVT Files
Land Information System Verification Toolkit (LVT) Disappeared
Double-clicking your LVT file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open LVT File". Customarily, this means that Land Information System Verification Toolkit (LVT) is not installed on %%os%%. The typical path of opening your LVT with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you don't have Land Information System Verification Toolkit (LVT) installed, and you know of another program to open your LVT file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Obsolete Version of Land Information System Verification Toolkit (LVT)
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Land Surface Verification Toolkit Configuration file that is unsupported by your installed application version. You will need to download a newer version of Land Information System Verification Toolkit (LVT) if you don't have the right version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Investigate your LVT file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening LVT files are due to having the wrong version of Land Information System Verification Toolkit (LVT) installed.
Other LVT File Issues
Assuming you have the right Land Information System Verification Toolkit (LVT) version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening LVT files. If you're still experiencing problems opening LVT files, there could be other computer problems. Issues that aren't software-related:
- File references in the Windows Registry for LVT are wrong
- Unintentional removal of the description of the LVT file inside the Windows Registry
- Land Information System Verification Toolkit (LVT) or another LVT application experienced a flawed installation
- LVT file corruption
- Your LVT is infected with malware
- Device drivers for LVT-related hardware are out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Land Surface Verification Toolkit Configuration file successfully
