Sources of LZM Problems
Troubles Opening LZM Files
Slax is Not Installed
Double-clicking your LZM file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open LZM File". Usually, this is because you do not have Slax for %%os%% installed. The OS won't know what to do with your LZM file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your LZM file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Slax Requires Update
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Slax installed that's incompatible with your Slax Module type. If you do not have the proper version Slax (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your Slax Module file was created by a different (newer) version of Slax than what's installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your LZM file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the LZM file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Slax installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading LZM Files
Errors opening Slax Module files can still occur even with the latest Slax software installed on your computer. If you're still experiencing problems opening LZM files, there could be other computer problems. Additional factors include:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for LZM
- Accidental deletion of the description of the LZM file in the Windows registry
- Defective install of a LZM program, such as Slax
- Something has caused file corruption of your LZM
- LZM file integrity has been compromised by malware
- LZM-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Slax Module format
