MODULE Troubleshooting
Troubles Opening MODULE Files
Microsoft Notepad Isn't There
If you attempt to load your MODULE file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open MODULE Files". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft Notepad for %%os%% installed on your computer. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you don't have Microsoft Notepad installed, and you know of another program to open your MODULE file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Obsolete Version of Microsoft Notepad
In other instances, your Drupal Module File file version may not be supported by your version of Microsoft Notepad. Visit the Microsoft Corporation website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Microsoft Notepad. Most of the time your Drupal Module File file was created by a newer Microsoft Notepad than what you have installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the MODULE file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Conclusion: The majority of MODULE file opening issues are due to not having the correct Microsoft Notepad version installed.
Other MODULE File Issues
Errors opening Drupal Module File files can still occur even with the latest Microsoft Notepad software installed on your computer. If you are continuing to have errors with loading MODULE files, other external issues might be to blame. These issues include:

- Your MODULE can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- The MODULE is infected with a virus
- Hardware associated with MODULE has outdated drivers
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Drupal Module File file
