MPI File Complications
Common Problems Opening MPI Files
InstallJammer is Not Installed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open MPI Files" when trying to open your MPI. When this happens, it is commonly due to InstallJammer missing in %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the MPI file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When another MPI application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
InstallJammer is Out-of-Date
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a InstallJammer Project File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you've got the wrong version of InstallJammer installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: If you right-click on your MPI file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the MPI file opening problems relate to not having the right version of InstallJammer installed.
Additional MPI Opening Issues
Errors opening InstallJammer Project File files can still occur even with the latest InstallJammer software installed on your computer. If you are continuing to have errors with loading MPI files, other external issues might be to blame. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- MPI file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Unintentional removal of the description of the MPI file inside the Windows Registry
- InstallJammer or another MPI application experienced a flawed installation
- Your MPI can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your MPI has adversely impacted by malware
- Hardware related to MPIs has device driver corruption
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the InstallJammer Project File format
