Troubleshooting Problems Opening MT2S Files
Issues Opening MT2S Files
CyberLink PowerDVD Isn't There
When trying to open your MT2S file, you get the error "Can't Open MT2S File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because CyberLink PowerDVD isn't installed on your PC. Your operating system cannot associate your MT2S with CyberLink PowerDVD, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you don't have CyberLink PowerDVD installed, and you know of another program to open your MT2S file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
CyberLink PowerDVD Requires Update
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of CyberLink PowerDVD installed that's incompatible with your MPEG-2 Transport Stream File type. If you've got the wrong version of CyberLink PowerDVD installed, you'll need to install the correct version. The primary cause of this problem is that your MPEG-2 Transport Stream File file was created by a different (newer) version of CyberLink PowerDVD than what's installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your MT2S file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening MT2S files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other Causes of MT2S File Opening Problems
Assuming you have the right CyberLink PowerDVD version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening MT2S files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening MT2S files. Additional factors include:
- Invalid MT2S file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Unintentional removal of the description of the MT2S file inside the Windows Registry
- Invalid installation of a MT2S-associated program (eg. CyberLink PowerDVD)
- Your MT2S can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Past or present virus infection has affected your MT2S
- Drivers associated with MT2S software need to be updated
- Windows cannot load your MPEG-2 Transport Stream File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
