Sources of NVM Problems

Typical NVM Opening Challenges

PCSX2 Removed

When trying to open your NVM file, you get the error "Can't Open NVM File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have PCSX2 for %%os%% installed on your computer. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.

Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your NVM, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").

PCSX2 Requires Update

Sometimes your installed version of PCSX2 won't support your PlayStation 2 BIOS Configuration File file. If you do not have the proper version PCSX2 (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This issue mainly occurs when your PlayStation 2 BIOS Configuration File file was created by a newer version of PCSX2 than you have on your PC.

Tip: Right-clicking on your NVM, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.

Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening NVM files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
