Understanding OMO Issues
Troubles Opening OMO Files
OMake Not Present
When you double-click your OMO file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because OMake isn't installed on your PC. You won't be able to double-click to open your OMO because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you don't have OMake installed, and you know of another program to open your OMO file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Wrong Version of OMake is Installed
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a OMake Object File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version OMake (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This issue mainly occurs when your OMake Object File file was created by a newer version of OMake than you have on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your OMO file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening OMO files are due to having the wrong version of OMake installed.
Additional OMO Opening Issues
Although you might already have OMake or another OMO-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening OMake Object File files. Other OMO opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Other contributing causes:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for OMO
- Unintentional removal of the description of the OMO file inside the Windows Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the OMO format
- The OMO itself is corrupted
- Malware-tainted OMO file can't be opened
- Device drivers for OMO-related hardware are out-of-date
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your OMake Object File file
