Typical PDK Opening Challenges
PC Desktop Cleaner Disappeared
When you double-click your PDK file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have PC Desktop Cleaner installed for %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your PDK with PC Desktop Cleaner, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: Another PDK-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Incorrect PC Desktop Cleaner Version
Your PC Desktop Cleaner Configuration file is incompatible with PC Desktop Cleaner because you might have the wrong version installed. If you do not have the proper version PC Desktop Cleaner (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your PC Desktop Cleaner Configuration file was created by a different (newer) version of PC Desktop Cleaner than what's installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your PDK file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the PDK file opening problems relate to not having the right version of PC Desktop Cleaner installed.
Other PDK File Opening Causes
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of PC Desktop Cleaner will resolve your issue. If you're still experiencing problems opening PDK files, there could be other computer problems. Other contributing causes:
- PDK file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Accidental deletion of the description of the PDK file in the Windows registry
- Corrupt install of PC Desktop Cleaner or other PDK-related program
- File corruption affecting your PDK file
- Past or present virus infection has affected your PDK
- Drivers associated with PDK software need to be updated
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the PC Desktop Cleaner Configuration file
