Typical PGE Opening Challenges
PocketGrandmaster Not Present
When trying to open your PGE file, you get the error "Can't Open PGE File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have PocketGrandmaster for %%os%% installed on your computer. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens PGE files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Incorrect PocketGrandmaster Version
Your PocketGrandmaster Engine File file is incompatible with PocketGrandmaster because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of PocketGrandmaster if you don't have the right version. The primary cause of this problem is that your PocketGrandmaster Engine File file was created by a different (newer) version of PocketGrandmaster than what's installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your PGE file and clicking "Properties".
Primarily, problems experienced when opening PGE files are due to having the incorrect version of PocketGrandmaster installed on your computer.
Additional PGE Opening Issues
Assuming you have the right PocketGrandmaster version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening PGE files. If you're still experiencing problems opening PGE files, there could be other computer problems. Other contributing causes:
- File references in the Windows Registry for PGE are wrong
- Corruption of the PGE file description inside the Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the PGE format
- Something has caused file corruption of your PGE
- Past or present virus infection has affected your PGE
- Drivers associated with PGE software need to be updated
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your PocketGrandmaster Engine File file successfully
