Understanding PGZ Issues
Typical PGZ Opening Challenges
Missing ZipZag
When trying to open your PGZ file, you get the error "Can't Open PGZ File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have ZipZag for %%os%% installed. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the PGZ file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you don't have ZipZag installed, and you know of another program to open your PGZ file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Incorrect ZipZag Version
It is possible that your version of ZipZag isn't able to open your StreamLync Ownload Archives file due to incompatibility. Visit the Open Source website to download (or purchase) the latest version of ZipZag. The primary cause of this problem is that your StreamLync Ownload Archives file was created by a different (newer) version of ZipZag than what's installed.
Tip: Right-clicking on your PGZ, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Summary: Not having the right ZipZag version on your computer can cause problems opening PGZ files.
More Causes of Problems Opening PGZs
Even with the correct version of ZipZag installed, you can still experience difficulties opening PGZs. Other PGZ opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- File references in the Windows Registry for PGZ are wrong
- Corruption of the PGZ file description inside the Registry
- ZipZag or another PGZ application experienced a flawed installation
- Something has caused file corruption of your PGZ
- Malware-tainted PGZ file can't be opened
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your PGZ file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your StreamLync Ownload Archives file successfully
