PHP3 Troubleshooting

Issues Opening PHP3 Files

MacroMates TextMate is Not Installed

When trying to open your PHP3 file, you get the error "Can't Open PHP3 File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to MacroMates TextMate missing in %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the PHP3 file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.

Tip: If you have another software that you know opens PHP3 files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.

Outdated MacroMates TextMate

Sometimes your installed version of MacroMates TextMate won't support your PHP 3 Web Page file. Installing the latest version of MacroMates TextMate from MacroMates is recommended. Most of the time your PHP 3 Web Page file was created by a newer MacroMates TextMate than what you have installed.

Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your PHP3 file and clicking "Properties".

Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening PHP3 files are due to having the wrong version of MacroMates TextMate installed.

Other PHP3 File Issues

In the majority of cases, installing the right version of MacroMates TextMate will resolve your issue. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening PHP3 files. Problems unrelated to software:

  • Windows Registry PHP3 file paths that are incorrect
  • Deletion of the PHP3 file description from the Registry by mistake
  • Invalid installation of a PHP3-associated program (eg. MacroMates TextMate)
  • Something has caused file corruption of your PHP3
  • Malware-tainted PHP3 file can't be opened
  • Device drivers for PHP3-related hardware are out-of-date
  • Windows has inadequate resources to open your PHP 3 Web Page file
