Psycle Removed

You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open PSY Files" when trying to open your PSY. If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Psycle for %%os%% installed on your computer. You won't be able to double-click to open your PSY because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.

Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your PSY, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").

Psycle Requires Update

In other instances, your Psycle Song File file version may not be supported by your version of Psycle. Visit the Open Source website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Psycle. This problem is predominately due to having a Psycle Song File file version that was created by a newer version of Psycle than what you have installed on your PC.

Tip: If you right-click on your PSY file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.

Conclusion: The majority of PSY file opening issues are due to not having the correct Psycle version installed.

More Causes of Problems Opening PSYs

You can still experience errors opening PSY files even with the latest version of Psycle installed on your PC. Other PSY opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Problems unrelated to software:
