Sources of Q Problems
Typical Q Opening Challenges
Tinn-R Editor Disappeared
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open Q Files" when trying to open your Q. When this happens, it is commonly due to Tinn-R Editor missing in %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your Q file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your Q, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Outdated Tinn-R Editor
It is possible that your version of Tinn-R Editor isn't able to open your Tinn-R Editor Data file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version Tinn-R Editor (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This issue mainly occurs when your Tinn-R Editor Data file was created by a newer version of Tinn-R Editor than you have on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of Q file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Primarily, problems experienced when opening Q files are due to having the incorrect version of Tinn-R Editor installed on your computer.
Other Q File Issues
Assuming you have the right Tinn-R Editor version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening Q files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening Q files. Other contributing causes:
- Windows Registry Q file paths that are incorrect
- Unintentional removal of the description of the Q file inside the Windows Registry
- Invalid installation of a Q-associated program (eg. Tinn-R Editor)
- The Q itself is corrupted
- Past or present virus infection has affected your Q
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your Q file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your Tinn-R Editor Data file
