QCI Troubleshooting
Issues Opening QCI Files
Unknown Software Removed
Double-clicking your QCI file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open QCI File". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Unknown Software for %%os%% installed on your computer. You won't be able to double-click to open your QCI because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: When another QCI application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Unknown Software is Out-of-Date
Your Cliq Accessories Phonebook Index file is incompatible with Unknown Software because you might have the wrong version installed. If you've got the wrong version of Unknown Software installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Your Cliq Accessories Phonebook Index file was probably created by a newer release of Unknown Software than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your QCI file and clicking "Properties".
Conclusion: The majority of QCI file opening issues are due to not having the correct Unknown Software version installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading QCI Files
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Unknown Software will resolve your issue. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening QCIs. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- QCI file type Registry entries are wrong
- Unintentional removal of the description of the QCI file inside the Windows Registry
- Corrupt install of Unknown Software or other QCI-related program
- Your QCI file is corrupted (issues with your Cliq Accessories Phonebook Index file itself)
- The QCI is infected with a virus
- QCI-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Cliq Accessories Phonebook Index format
