REB File Complications

Troubles Opening REB Files

REBOL/View Isn't There

Double-clicking your REB file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open REB File". When this happens, it is commonly due to REBOL/View missing in %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your REB file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.

Tip: Another REB-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.

Obsolete Version of REBOL/View

It is possible that your version of REBOL/View isn't able to open your REBOL Script File file due to incompatibility. Installing the latest version of REBOL/View from REBOL Technologies is recommended. This problem is predominately due to having a REBOL Script File file version that was created by a newer version of REBOL/View than what you have installed on your PC.

Tip: Investigate your REB file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening REB files are due to having the wrong version of REBOL/View installed.

Other REB File Issues

You can still experience errors opening REB files even with the latest version of REBOL/View installed on your PC. Other REB opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Other contributing causes:

• Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for REB
• The REB file description within the Windows Registry was removed
