RG File Complications

Common Problems Opening RG Files

IrfanView Removed

You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open RG Files" when trying to open your RG. Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because IrfanView isn't installed on your PC. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.

Tip: If you don't have IrfanView installed, and you know of another program to open your RG file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".

Obsolete Version of IrfanView

Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of IrfanView installed that's incompatible with your Bitmap Picture File type. Installing the latest version of IrfanView from Open Source is recommended. Most of the time your Bitmap Picture File file was created by a newer IrfanView than what you have installed.

Tip: Investigate your RG file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening RG files are due to having the wrong version of IrfanView installed.

• Corrupt install of IrfanView or other RG-related program
