RMD Troubleshooting
Troubles Opening RMD Files
Reference Manager Isn't There
When you double-click your RMD file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Reference Manager installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the RMD file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens RMD files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Incorrect Reference Manager Version
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Reference Manager installed that's incompatible with your Reference Manager Data File type. You will need to download a newer version of Reference Manager if you don't have the right version. This problem is predominately due to having a Reference Manager Data File file version that was created by a newer version of Reference Manager than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your RMD, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening RMD files are due to having the incorrect version of Reference Manager installed on your computer.
Other RMD File Opening Causes
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Reference Manager will resolve your issue.
