Understanding SG Issues
Troubles Opening SG Files
Kega Fusion Disappeared
You attempt to load your SG file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The SG File Extension". Usually, this is because you do not have Kega Fusion for %%os%% installed. You won't be able to double-click to open your SG because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you don't have Kega Fusion installed, and you know of another program to open your SG file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Kega Fusion is Out-of-Date
It is possible that your version of Kega Fusion isn't able to open your SG-1000 Game ROM File file due to incompatibility. You will need to download a newer version of Kega Fusion if you don't have the right version. Your SG-1000 Game ROM File file was probably created by a newer release of Kega Fusion than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: If you right-click on your SG file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening SG files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other Causes of SG File Opening Problems
Even with the correct version of Kega Fusion installed, you can still experience difficulties opening SGs. If you're still experiencing problems opening SG files, there could be other computer problems. Other contributing causes:
- Invalid SG file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry SG description
- Partial installation of Kega Fusion that did not fully complete
- Your SG file is corrupted (issues with your SG-1000 Game ROM File file itself)
- Your SG has adversely impacted by malware
- Drivers associated with SG software need to be updated
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your SG-1000 Game ROM File file successfully
