Troubleshoot SNAP Files

Common SNAP Opening Problems

XZX-Pro Disappeared

You attempt to load your SNAP file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The SNAP File Extension". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have XZX-Pro for %%os%% installed on your computer. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the SNAP file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.

Tip: If you know of another program that can open your SNAP file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.

XZX-Pro is Out-of-Date

Sometimes your installed version of XZX-Pro won't support your ZX Spectrum Emulator Mirage Microdrive Snapshot file. If you've got the wrong version of XZX-Pro installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Your ZX Spectrum Emulator Mirage Microdrive Snapshot file was probably created by a newer release of XZX-Pro than what's currently installed your computer.

Tip: Investigate your SNAP file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

Conclusion: The majority of SNAP file opening issues are due to not having the correct XZX-Pro version installed.

Additional SNAP Opening Issues

Although you might already have XZX-Pro or another SNAP-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening ZX Spectrum Emulator Mirage Microdrive Snapshot files. • SNAP file corruption
  • Your SNAP is infected with malware
