Understanding SRR Issues
Troubles Opening SRR Files
ReScene Disappeared
When trying to open your SRR file, you get the error "Can't Open SRR File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because ReScene isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your SRR with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens SRR files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Incorrect ReScene Version
Sometimes your installed version of ReScene won't support your ReScene Metadata File file. You will need to download a newer version of ReScene if you don't have the right version. The primary cause of this problem is that your ReScene Metadata File file was created by a different (newer) version of ReScene than what's installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the SRR file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Summary: Not having the right ReScene version on your computer can cause problems opening SRR files.
Other SRR File Issues
You can still experience errors opening SRR files even with the latest version of ReScene installed on your PC. If you're still experiencing problems opening SRR files, there could be other computer problems. These issues include:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for SRR
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry SRR description
- Invalid installation of a SRR-associated program (eg. ReScene)
- The SRR itself is corrupted
- Your SRR has adversely impacted by malware
- Hardware associated with SRR has outdated drivers
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the ReScene Metadata File file
