Sources of UPT Problems
Common UPT Opening Problems
Neural Network Simulation Software Not Present
Double-clicking your UPT file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open UPT File". When this happens, it is commonly due to Neural Network Simulation Software missing in %%os%%. The typical path of opening your UPT with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: Another UPT-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Neural Network Simulation Software Requires Update
Sometimes your installed version of Neural Network Simulation Software won't support your Connectivity Memory Model Update Timing Input Data File file. You will need to download a newer version of Neural Network Simulation Software if you don't have the right version. The primary cause of this problem is that your Connectivity Memory Model Update Timing Input Data File file was created by a different (newer) version of Neural Network Simulation Software than what's installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your UPT file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the UPT file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Neural Network Simulation Software installed.
Other UPT File Opening Causes
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Neural Network Simulation Software will resolve your issue. If you are continuing to have errors with loading UPT files, other external issues might be to blame. Other contributing causes:
- UPT file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Deletion of the UPT file description from the Registry by mistake
- Partial installation of Neural Network Simulation Software that did not fully complete
- The UPT itself is corrupted
- The UPT is infected with a virus
- Device drivers for UPT-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Connectivity Memory Model Update Timing Input Data File file
