Troubleshoot USF Files
Common USF Opening Problems
EVGA PrecisionX Not Present
When you double-click your USF file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to EVGA PrecisionX missing in %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your USF file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When another USF application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Wrong Version of EVGA PrecisionX is Installed
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of EVGA PrecisionX installed that's incompatible with your EVGA Precision X Skin File type. Download the latest EVGA PrecisionX version from the EVGA Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Investigate your USF file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening USF files are due to having the incorrect version of EVGA PrecisionX installed on your computer.
Other USF File Issues
You can still experience errors opening USF files even with the latest version of EVGA PrecisionX installed on your PC. If you are still having problems opening USF files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Problems unrelated to software:
- USF file type Registry entries are wrong
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry USF description
- Defective install of a USF program, such as EVGA PrecisionX
- Your USF can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Malware-tainted USF file can't be opened
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your USF file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the EVGA Precision X Skin File file
