VVF Troubleshooting
Frequent VVF Opening Issues
Voc Removed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open VVF Files" when trying to open your VVF. If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Voc for %%os%% installed on your computer. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the VVF file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: Another VVF-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Incorrect Voc Version
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Voc Vocabulary File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Visit the Open Source website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Voc. This problem is predominately due to having a Voc Vocabulary File file version that was created by a newer version of Voc than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the VVF file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening VVF files are due to having the wrong version of Voc installed.
Other VVF File Opening Causes
Assuming you have the right Voc version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening VVF files. If you're still experiencing problems opening VVF files, there could be other computer problems. Problems unrelated to software:
- Windows Registry VVF file paths that are incorrect
- Accidental deletion of the description of the VVF file in the Windows registry
- Defective install of a VVF program, such as Voc
- Something has caused file corruption of your VVF
- VVF file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware associated with VVF has outdated drivers
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Voc Vocabulary File file
