WI File Complications
Troubles Opening WI Files
Missing Corel Presentations X8
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open WI Files" when trying to open your WI. Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Corel Presentations X8 isn't installed on your PC. You won't be able to double-click to open your WI because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: Another WI-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Wrong Version of Corel Presentations X8 is Installed
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Wavelet Image file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version Corel Presentations X8 (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your Wavelet Image file was created by a different (newer) version of Corel Presentations X8 than what's installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the WI file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening WI files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other WI File Opening Causes
Even with the correct version of Corel Presentations X8 installed, you can still experience difficulties opening WIs. If you're still experiencing problems opening WI files, there could be other computer problems. Other contributing causes:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for WI
- The WI file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Defective install of a WI program, such as Corel Presentations X8
- File corruption affecting your WI file
- Past or present virus infection has affected your WI
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your WI file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Wavelet Image file successfully
