Troubleshoot WUL Files
Common Problems Opening WUL Files
WinUHA Removed
Double-clicking your WUL file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open WUL File". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have WinUHA for %%os%% installed on your computer. Your operating system cannot associate your WUL with WinUHA, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When another WUL application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Obsolete Version of WinUHA
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a WinUHA Language File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Download the latest WinUHA version from the Open Source website to ensure you have the correct one installed. Your WinUHA Language File file was probably created by a newer release of WinUHA than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Right-clicking on your WUL, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Regardless, most of the WUL file opening problems relate to not having the right version of WinUHA installed.
Other WUL File Opening Causes
Assuming you have the right WinUHA version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening WUL files. If you're still experiencing problems opening WUL files, there could be other computer problems. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- File references in the Windows Registry for WUL are wrong
- Accidental deletion of the description of the WUL file in the Windows registry
- Invalid installation of a WUL-associated program (eg. WinUHA)
- Your WUL file is corrupted (issues with your WinUHA Language File file itself)
- Your WUL has adversely impacted by malware
- Hardware associated with WUL has outdated drivers
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your WinUHA Language File file successfully
