Troubleshoot WVL Files
Issues Opening WVL Files
Corel Presentations X8 Disappeared
If you attempt to load your WVL file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open WVL Files". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Corel Presentations X8 isn't installed on your PC. Your operating system cannot associate your WVL with Corel Presentations X8, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you don't have Corel Presentations X8 installed, and you know of another program to open your WVL file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Wrong Version of Corel Presentations X8 is Installed
Sometimes your installed version of Corel Presentations X8 won't support your Wavelet Image file. If you've got the wrong version of Corel Presentations X8 installed, you'll need to install the correct version. The primary cause of this problem is that your Wavelet Image file was created by a different (newer) version of Corel Presentations X8 than what's installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the WVL file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening WVL files are due to having the wrong version of Corel Presentations X8 installed.
Other Causes of WVL File Opening Problems
Although you might already have Corel Presentations X8 or another WVL-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Wavelet Image files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening WVL files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- WVL file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry WVL description
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the WVL format
- Your WVL can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your WVL is infected with malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your WVL file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Wavelet Image format
