XVO File Complications

Frequent XVO Opening Issues

RatDVD Removed

If you attempt to load your XVO file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open XVO Files". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have RatDVD for %%os%% installed on your computer. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.

Tip: Another XVO-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.

RatDVD Requires Update

In other instances, your RatDVD Internal File file version may not be supported by your version of RatDVD. Installing the latest version of RatDVD from Open Source is recommended. The primary cause of this problem is that your RatDVD Internal File file was created by a different (newer) version of RatDVD than what's installed.

Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the XVO file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.

Regardless, most of the XVO file opening problems relate to not having the right version of RatDVD installed.

Other Causes of XVO File Opening Problems

You can still experience errors opening XVO files even with the latest version of RatDVD installed on your PC. If you are continuing to have errors with loading XVO files, other external issues might be to blame. Issues that aren't software-related:

  • File references in the Windows Registry for XVO are wrong
  • Accidental deletion of the description of the XVO file in the Windows registry
  • Corrupt install of RatDVD or other XVO-related program
  • The XVO itself is corrupted
  • XVO file integrity has been compromised by malware
  • Drivers associated with XVO software need to be updated
  • Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the RatDVD Internal File format
