YSP Troubleshooting
Common YSP Opening Problems
Snap! Disappeared
Double-clicking your YSP file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open YSP File". Customarily, this means that Snap! is not installed on %%os%%. The typical path of opening your YSP with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When another YSP application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Snap! Requires Update
It is possible that your version of Snap! isn't able to open your BYOB Sprite File file due to incompatibility. If you've got the wrong version of Snap! installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Your BYOB Sprite File file was probably created by a newer release of Snap! than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Right-clicking on your YSP, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Summary: Not having the right Snap! version on your computer can cause problems opening YSP files.
Other YSP File Opening Causes
Even with the correct version of Snap! installed, you can still experience difficulties opening YSPs. If you are still having problems opening YSP files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Invalid YSP file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Deletion of the YSP file description from the Registry by mistake
- Snap! or another YSP application experienced a flawed installation
- Your YSP can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Malware-tainted YSP file can't be opened
- Drivers associated with YSP software need to be updated
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the BYOB Sprite File file
Quiz: Which of these is considered a vector image file?
That's Correct!
The unique thing about vector files such as AI and EPS is that graphic details (eg. sizes and shapes of objects) and text remains editable. This allows you can save and re-open them in Illustrator and edit text or other elements within the graphic.
