Troubleshooting Problems Opening ZBA Files
Frequent ZBA Opening Issues
ZipZag is Not Installed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open ZBA Files" when trying to open your ZBA. Customarily, this means that ZipZag is not installed on %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your ZBA with ZipZag, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: Another ZBA-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Wrong Version of ZipZag is Installed
In other instances, your Compressed Data File file version may not be supported by your version of ZipZag. Visit the Open Source website to download (or purchase) the latest version of ZipZag. This problem is predominately due to having a Compressed Data File file version that was created by a newer version of ZipZag than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your ZBA file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Regardless, most of the ZBA file opening problems relate to not having the right version of ZipZag installed.
Other Causes of ZBA File Opening Problems
Although you might already have ZipZag or another ZBA-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Compressed Data File files. If you're still experiencing problems opening ZBA files, there could be other computer problems. Additional factors include:
- File references in the Windows Registry for ZBA are wrong
- Unintentional removal of the description of the ZBA file inside the Windows Registry
- ZipZag or another ZBA application experienced a flawed installation
- Your ZBA file is corrupted (issues with your Compressed Data File file itself)
- Malware-tainted ZBA file can't be opened
- Hardware related to ZBAs has device driver corruption
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your Compressed Data File file
