Troubleshoot ZM3 Files
Typical ZM3 Opening Challenges
WinZip Removed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open ZM3 Files" when trying to open your ZM3. If so, it typically means that you don't have WinZip installed for %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your ZM3 file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When another ZM3 application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Outdated WinZip
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a ZoneAlarm Mailsafe Renamed Data file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version WinZip (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your ZoneAlarm Mailsafe Renamed Data file was created by a different (newer) version of WinZip than what's installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your ZM3 file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right WinZip version on your computer can cause problems opening ZM3 files.
Other ZM3 File Issues
You can still experience errors opening ZM3 files even with the latest version of WinZip installed on your PC. If you are still having problems opening ZM3 files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Additional factors include:
- ZM3 file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Corruption of the ZM3 file description inside the Registry
- Partial installation of WinZip that did not fully complete
- Your ZM3 file is corrupted (issues with your ZoneAlarm Mailsafe Renamed Data file itself)
- Past or present virus infection has affected your ZM3
- ZM3-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open ZoneAlarm Mailsafe Renamed Data files
Quiz: Which of these is considered a vector image file?
That's Correct!
The unique thing about vector files such as AI and EPS is that graphic details (eg. sizes and shapes of objects) and text remains editable. This allows you can save and re-open them in Illustrator and edit text or other elements within the graphic.
