APF Troubleshooting

Common APF Opening Problems

Adobe Acrobat DC Not Present

When you double-click your APF file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Adobe Acrobat DC isn't installed on your PC. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the APF file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.

Tip: When another APF application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

Incorrect Adobe Acrobat DC Version

In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Adobe Profile File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. You will need to download a newer version of Adobe Acrobat DC if you don't have the right version. This problem is predominately due to having a Adobe Profile File file version that was created by a newer version of Adobe Acrobat DC than what you have installed on your PC.

Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the APF file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.

Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening APF files are due to having the wrong version of Adobe Acrobat DC installed.
