Understanding ARW Issues
Typical ARW Opening Challenges
MacPhun ColorStrokes Not Present
You attempt to load your ARW file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The ARW File Extension". Usually, this is because you do not have MacPhun ColorStrokes for %%os%% installed. You won't be able to double-click to open your ARW because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you don't have MacPhun ColorStrokes installed, and you know of another program to open your ARW file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
MacPhun ColorStrokes is Out-of-Date
Sometimes your installed version of MacPhun ColorStrokes won't support your Sony Digital Camera Image file. You will need to download a newer version of MacPhun ColorStrokes if you don't have the right version. Your Sony Digital Camera Image file was probably created by a newer release of MacPhun ColorStrokes than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Right-clicking on your ARW, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening ARW files are due to having the incorrect version of MacPhun ColorStrokes installed on your computer.
Other ARW File Opening Causes
You can still experience errors opening ARW files even with the latest version of MacPhun ColorStrokes installed on your PC. Other ARW opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- ARW file type Registry entries are wrong
- The ARW file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Partial installation of MacPhun ColorStrokes that did not fully complete
- Your ARW file is corrupted (issues with your Sony Digital Camera Image file itself)
- Your ARW has adversely impacted by malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your ARW file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Sony Digital Camera Image files
