Understanding JSO Issues
Common Problems Opening JSO Files
JISO Removed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open JSO Files" when trying to open your JSO. When this happens, it is commonly due to JISO missing in %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: Another JSO-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Outdated JISO
In other instances, your PSP ISO Compressor file version may not be supported by your version of JISO. You will need to download a newer version of JISO if you don't have the right version. This problem is predominately due to having a PSP ISO Compressor file version that was created by a newer version of JISO than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of JSO file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening JSO files are due to having the wrong version of JISO installed.
Other JSO File Issues
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of JISO will resolve your issue. If you are still having problems opening JSO files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Additional factors include:
- JSO file type Registry entries are wrong
- The JSO file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Defective install of a JSO program, such as JISO
- JSO file corruption
- Your JSO is infected with malware
- Device drivers for JSO-related hardware are out-of-date
- Windows cannot load your PSP ISO Compressor file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
