Troubleshooting Problems Opening MPL Files
Common Problems Opening MPL Files
CyberLink PowerDVD is Not Installed
When trying to open your MPL file, you get the error "Can't Open MPL File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because CyberLink PowerDVD isn't installed on your PC. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: Another MPL-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Incorrect CyberLink PowerDVD Version
It is possible that your version of CyberLink PowerDVD isn't able to open your AVCHD Playlist File file due to incompatibility. Visit the CyberLink website to download (or purchase) the latest version of CyberLink PowerDVD. This problem is predominately due to having a AVCHD Playlist File file version that was created by a newer version of CyberLink PowerDVD than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your MPL, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Regardless, most of the MPL file opening problems relate to not having the right version of CyberLink PowerDVD installed.
Other MPL File Issues
Even with the correct version of CyberLink PowerDVD installed, you can still experience difficulties opening MPLs. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening MPL files. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- MPL file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry MPL description
- CyberLink PowerDVD or another MPL application experienced a flawed installation
- Your MPL can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your MPL is infected with malware
- MPL-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Windows cannot load your AVCHD Playlist File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
