PSV File Complications
Frequent PSV Opening Issues
PSV Exporter Disappeared
When trying to open your PSV file, you get the error "Can't Open PSV File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have PSV Exporter for %%os%% installed. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the PSV file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your PSV file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Incorrect PSV Exporter Version
Sometimes your installed version of PSV Exporter won't support your PlayStation 2 Save File file. If you've got the wrong version of PSV Exporter installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Investigate your PSV file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening PSV files are due to having the incorrect version of PSV Exporter installed on your computer.
Other PSV File Opening Causes
You can still experience errors opening PSV files even with the latest version of PSV Exporter installed on your PC. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening PSV files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Invalid PSV file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Unintentional removal of the description of the PSV file inside the Windows Registry
- Partial installation of PSV Exporter that did not fully complete
- Something has caused file corruption of your PSV
- The PSV is infected with a virus
- Hardware associated with PSV has outdated drivers
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your PlayStation 2 Save File file
