Common Problems Opening RCO Files

Missing RCO Editor

You attempt to load your RCO file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The RCO File Extension". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because RCO Editor isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your RCO with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.

Tip: When another RCO application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

RCO Editor Requires Update

Your PlayStation Portable File file is incompatible with RCO Editor because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of RCO Editor if you don't have the right version. Your PlayStation Portable File file was probably created by a newer release of RCO Editor than what's currently installed your computer.

Tip: Investigate your RCO file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

Primarily, problems experienced when opening RCO files are due to having the incorrect version of RCO Editor installed on your computer.

More Causes of Problems Opening RCOs

Assuming you have the right RCO Editor version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening RCO files. If you're still experiencing problems opening RCO files, there could be other computer problems. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):

  • Windows Registry RCO file paths that are incorrect
  • Accidental deletion of the description of the RCO file in the Windows registry
  • Partial installation of RCO Editor that did not fully complete
  • The RCO itself is corrupted
  • Past or present virus infection has affected your RCO
  • Hardware related to RCOs has device driver corruption
  • Windows has inadequate resources to open your PlayStation Portable File file
