Troubleshooting Problems Opening SPU Files

Typical SPU Opening Challenges

Lemkesoft GraphicConverter is Not Installed

When you double-click your SPU file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have Lemkesoft GraphicConverter for %%os%% installed. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the SPU file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.

Tip: If you know of another program that can open your SPU file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.

Obsolete Version of Lemkesoft GraphicConverter

Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Lemkesoft GraphicConverter installed that's incompatible with your Spectrum 512 Image type. If you do not have the proper version Lemkesoft GraphicConverter (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
