Troubleshoot VMP Files

Issues Opening VMP Files

VAIO Movie Creator Removed

If you attempt to load your VMP file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open VMP Files". When this happens, it is commonly due to VAIO Movie Creator missing in %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your VMP because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.

Tip: If you have another software that you know opens VMP files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.

VAIO Movie Creator is Out-of-Date

In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Logos Library System 2.x Verse Map file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version VAIO Movie Creator (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your Logos Library System 2.x Verse Map file was created by a different (newer) version of VAIO Movie Creator than what's installed.

Tip: Right-clicking on your VMP, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.

Conclusion: The majority of VMP file opening issues are due to not having the correct VAIO Movie Creator version installed.

Other VMP File Issues

You can still experience errors opening VMP files even with the latest version of VAIO Movie Creator installed on your PC. If you're still experiencing problems opening VMP files, there could be other computer problems. Other contributing causes:

  • VMP file references in the Windows Registry are broken
  • Unintentional removal of the description of the VMP file inside the Windows Registry
  • Defective install of a VMP program, such as VAIO Movie Creator
  • Your VMP file is corrupted (issues with your Logos Library System 2.x Verse Map file itself)
  • Past or present virus infection has affected your VMP
  • Drivers associated with VMP software need to be updated
  • Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Logos Library System 2.x Verse Map format
