Troubleshoot CDMIA Files
Frequent CDMIA Opening Issues
Unknown Software Not Present
When trying to open your CDMIA file, you get the error "Can't Open CDMIA File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Unknown Software missing in %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your CDMIA with Unknown Software, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens CDMIA files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Unknown Software is Out-of-Date
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Unknown Software installed that's incompatible with your Unknown File Type type. Installing the latest version of Unknown Software from Unknown Developer is recommended. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Right-clicking on your CDMIA, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Regardless, most of the CDMIA file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Unknown Software installed.
Other CDMIA File Issues
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Unknown Software will resolve your issue. Other CDMIA opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for CDMIA
- Unintentional removal of the description of the CDMIA file inside the Windows Registry
- Corrupt install of Unknown Software or other CDMIA-related program
- Your CDMIA can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your CDMIA has adversely impacted by malware
- Device drivers for CDMIA-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Unknown File Type format
