LHA File Complications

Frequent LHA Opening Issues

7-Zip Isn't There

When you double-click your LHA file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have 7-Zip for - installed. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the LHA file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.

Tip: If you don't have 7-Zip installed, and you know of another program to open your LHA file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".

Outdated 7-Zip

It is possible that your version of 7-Zip isn't able to open your LHARC Compressed Archive file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version 7-Zip (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Most of the time your LHARC Compressed Archive file was created by a newer 7-Zip than what you have installed.

Tip: Investigate your LHA file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

• File references in the Windows Registry for LHA are wrong
• Deletion of the LHA file description from the Registry by mistake
• Defective install of a LHA program, such as 7-Zip
• Your LHA can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
• Your LHA has adversely impacted by malware
• LHA-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
• Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the LHARC Compressed Archive format
