DISTZ Troubleshooting
Typical DISTZ Opening Challenges
Apple OS X is Not Installed
When you double-click your DISTZ file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Apple OS X missing in %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your DISTZ with Apple OS X, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you don't have Apple OS X installed, and you know of another program to open your DISTZ file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Apple OS X Requires Update
Your Apple Mac OS X Installer Distribution File file is incompatible with Apple OS X because you might have the wrong version installed. Download the latest Apple OS X version from the Apple website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This issue mainly occurs when your Apple Mac OS X Installer Distribution File file was created by a newer version of Apple OS X than you have on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your DISTZ, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening DISTZ files are due to having the incorrect version of Apple OS X installed on your computer.
More Causes of Problems Opening DISTZs
Although you might already have Apple OS X or another DISTZ-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Apple Mac OS X Installer Distribution File files. Other DISTZ opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- File references in the Windows Registry for DISTZ are wrong
- Corruption of the DISTZ file description inside the Registry
- Corrupt install of Apple OS X or other DISTZ-related program
- Your DISTZ can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your DISTZ has adversely impacted by malware
- Hardware related to DISTZs has device driver corruption
- Windows cannot load your Apple Mac OS X Installer Distribution File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
