Software Overview
This is a software that is used to create multimedia applications. Originally, it was made for the creation of animation sequences but it's now used as a software to make shockwave programs like games. It provides a movie making based interface and workflow that allows creating multimedia applications. Director uses Lingo scripting language which allows adding interactivity to applications. It also supports 3D interactivity with Shockwave 3D file objects and it also has 2D image manipulation tools. It is usually compared to Adobe Flash that is also used for the creation of web applications that run on Adobe plugins. The advantage of Director over Adobe Flash is that it is more extensible due to the availability of adding tools and features by many plugins. If the developer of web applications doesn't want the user to download a plugin for the application to work, it is recommended to use JavaScript.
