SDP File Complications
Issues Opening SDP Files
Apache OpenOffice Not Present
When you double-click your SDP file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Customarily, this means that Apache OpenOffice is not installed on %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your SDP file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Wrong Version of Apache OpenOffice is Installed
Sometimes your installed version of Apache OpenOffice won't support your StarOffice Presentation File file. You will need to download a newer version of Apache OpenOffice if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your StarOffice Presentation File file was created by a newer version of Apache OpenOffice than you have on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your SDP file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Regardless, most of the SDP file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Apache OpenOffice installed.
Other Causes of SDP File Opening Problems
Although you might already have Apache OpenOffice or another SDP-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening StarOffice Presentation File files. Other SDP opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for SDP
- Accidental deletion of the description of the SDP file in the Windows registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the SDP format
- Your SDP file is corrupted (issues with your StarOffice Presentation File file itself)
- Your SDP is infected with malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your SDP file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your StarOffice Presentation File file
