Troubleshoot TSD Files
Typical TSD Opening Challenges
Tamino Schema Editor is Not Installed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open TSD Files" when trying to open your TSD. If so, it typically means that you don't have Tamino Schema Editor installed for %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your TSD with Tamino Schema Editor, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your TSD, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Tamino Schema Editor Requires Update
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Tamino Schema Editor installed that's incompatible with your Tamino Schema Editor File type. Download the latest Tamino Schema Editor version from the Software AG website to ensure you have the correct one installed. The primary cause of this problem is that your Tamino Schema Editor File file was created by a different (newer) version of Tamino Schema Editor than what's installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your TSD file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening TSD files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other TSD File Issues
You can still experience errors opening TSD files even with the latest version of Tamino Schema Editor installed on your PC. If you are still having problems opening TSD files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Problems unrelated to software:
- TSD file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Corruption of the TSD file description inside the Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the TSD format
- Your TSD file is corrupted (issues with your Tamino Schema Editor File file itself)
- Your TSD is infected with malware
- Device drivers for TSD-related hardware are out-of-date
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your Tamino Schema Editor File file
